We work on behalf of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) to deliver their services as its service delivery provider.

In 2010, international trade across the North East increased by a third, the highest growth rate of any English region, and throughout that period the UKTI service helped over 600 businesses to expand into overseas markets.  UKTI has achieved this through Business & Enterprise Group’s role delivering the Regional International Trade Office in North East England. 

Since 2009, the Business & Enterprise Group has delivered a wide range of UKTI services to boost international trade – from delivering large scale export conferences and workshops to helping businesses develop an export plan and gain access to an international trade advisor or foreign embassy.

Through UKTI’s Regional International Trade Office we: 

  • Provide financial support for business export plans and hands-on support from appropriate export professionals.
  • Have developed and implemented a virtual centre for export which will draw upon regional and national expertise to give businesses easy access to international trade support online.

The North East Regional International Trade Office is part-financed by the European Union. European Regional Development Fund 2007-13.

Through BtoB, we also deliver outward and inward missions, international showcase events and roadshows for UKTI.

We work with a number of regional offices and sector group teams, including those for advanced engineering, construction, ICT, energy, financial services and creative services, amongst others. Countries in which UKTI has helped UK companies to make contacts for new business include Brazil, China, India, USA, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Portugal and many more.

NDI UK Ltd works with hundreds of defence contractors regionally, nationally and internationally, as well as prime contractors, systems integrators and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to develop supplier and subcontractor capacity and capabilities.

The team at NDI UK identifies business opportunities with prime contractors, system integrators, supply network companies, the UK Ministry of Defence and foreign defence departments that can be delivered by those companies in the NDI UK supply network or by NDI UK itself. Services range from consultancy services, project management and marketing support to prepare winning bids and assistance in determining overseas markets and partners.

Compete North East is a procurement support service offering North East businesses advice, support and assistance to identify and win public and private sector contract opportunities.  The service has helped companies to tender successfully for £12million worth of the 2012 Olympic contracts. By helping businesses to become even more competitive, it opens up opportunities to compete internationally for future prestigious events such as the Commonwealth Games and the Winter Olympics.
